Time to recruit for next year! Recruiting is important to all of us because, to put it plainly, with students comes the tuition that allows us to pay our teachers and fulfill the school mission. Remember that we are purposefully small to maintain a family atmosphere, and that we insist on two teachers per class of 20 or fewer to provide individual attention. This comes at more than double the price tag it would take to run classes of 25 to 30 with only one teacher!
What we need is full enrollment. We expect 9 students to leave the front-room for the back-room next year, and 10 students to graduate from middle school. This translates into a need for 8 to 9 students at the kindergarten or 1st grade level (with a bias for 1st grade girls) and 5 middle schoolers. At this point, the back-room is expected to be full.
How can you help? Advertise! You can:
* Remember the keywords of our educational philosophy: thematic approach, connections between disciplines, inquiry, critical thinking, reading and writing across all subject areas, individualized challenges.
* Talk to your friends, direct them to our website, "like" our school on Facebook.
* Talk to people in your own community who are used to talking to others (pastors, business owners, real estate agents, doctors, therapists...); invite them to come take a campus tour (by appointment, contact Katy).
* Help run information desks at upcoming local events, such as the Mag Lab Open House on Feb. 18th (Thank you to the middle school students and to our helpers at the Museum of Florida History, the Magnolia Time Machine was a hit!).
*Write a testimonial for one (or all) of these websites:
* Participate in the upcoming Facilities Meeting / mini Work Day (Feb. 11th) to continue beautifying the school for tours.
* Bring other ideas to the PTO (next meeting Feb. 21st).
* Consider joining the Board/PTO Outreach committee (contact Sue Ray).
Thank you for your help!
