Admissions

Thank you for expressing an interest in The Magnolia School; we would love to have you! We try to keep our enrollment under 60 students total to maintain our small teacher/student ratio.

COME VISIT: We urge prospective applicants to visit the school prior to submitting

an application to become familiar with our philosophy and practices. There is a place on the application to record the dates of your visits. Our school day is from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please call 385-3834 to arrange a good day and time to come. Our school day is active and varied and contains a certain amount of noise and activity. The Magnolia School, therefore, may not be the most appropriate setting for all students. A child with a high need for a quiet, predictable environment may thrive better in a more formal, structured environment.

APPLY: Please complete the application and return it to the school. Deliver the teacher recommendation form to your child's current teacher. All forms may be downloaded here. Out of respect for families, The Magnolia School has adopted a no-hidden-fees policy. For example, we do not require an application fee, a registration fee or a supply fee, as do many other private schools in the area. The application deadline for the 2010-2011 school year was March 1, 2010, although applications received after this period will be considered if openings remain.

Criteria for admissions

Priority is given to current Magnolia students and their families and to families who will increase the diversity of our population. Other factors that we take into consideration include gender and age balance and parental involvement. We will also balance the number of students with special needs with the number of typical peers to maintain the best ratio for a full inclusion program.

Acceptance

Families who applied by March 1, 2010, have been notified of their acceptance. Applications received after this period may still be considered. If no openings remain, these applications will be added to our waiting list. Families who applies after March 1 will be notified as soon as the review process is complete.

No family will be denied admittance to The Magnolia School on the basis of race, religion, gender, ethnic or national origin, sexual orientation, or family configuration.
